Buying art by the shore
We had a wonderful time this weekend in Old Lyme and Old Saybrook. We went specifically for the Wee Faerie Village, which I think we’re going to make an annual outing. It’s delightful. By luck, it overlaps with the Old Saybrook Arts & Crafts Festival, where we bought a lot of much-needed art. No, seriously, it was a lot. Packing the car was a concern. OK, it was 6 pieces. But one is over 6 feet tall and made of rebar.
One is a resin-on-wood piece by Julie Cote. We placed it beside our favorite top hat bird watercolor that makes us smile every day (thanks Brent), but whose wall was a bit empty. We’re debating building a frame or shadow box for it to make it stand out a bit more, but we like it as it is. It catches the light in surprising ways. This month we get some art on these walls. They’ve been too bare for too long.
